Supervision: IB Middle Years Programme German Teacher will report directly to the Middle School Principal and Deputy Head Overall or his/ her designee and may be requested from time to time to work beyond normal working hours for the smooth functioning of the technological infrastructure within the school and be compensated for such longer hours with rest day/s equivalent to hours worked.

Additionally, the school maintains a strategic partnership with the Rwandan government to support plus-STEM students receiving national scholarships.

Your main duties and responsibilities include:

You will have the opportunity to help young people develop as independent personalities, to cultivate their talents, and to strengthen their intellectual curiosity. Small courses of 20 students enable differentiated teaching and learning. In addition to teaching courses, you will mentor students and support them in self-regulating their learning. Our newly constructed, picturesque, state-of-the-art campus provides an ideal working environment for educators and learners. An innovative spirit and new ideas to help us shape a Ntare Louisenlund Pedagogy for the 21st century are welcome.

  • Instructional design, including developing unit plans, designing tasks, and creating a variety of learning resources that are cognitively activating and help students personalize their learning.
  • Instructional delivery: facilitating seminars, including delivery of cooperative, inquiry-based and project-based learning experiences. 
  • Classroom management.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records.
  •  Providing constructive support to students, including scaffolds to aid their learning.
  • Facilitating Studio Time (self-directed learning phases) through active monitoring, as well as subject-specific and metacognitive support.
  • Assessing student work, both on a formative and summative level.
  • Reporting on student learning and achievement, including writing periodic term reports and regularly communicating with learners, their mentors and parents on learners’ progress and development.
  • Serving as a mentor for up to ten students annually (see Mentoring Students handbook).
  • All other duties relevant to effective teaching and learning as assigned by the Head of School or the respective middle school principal.

 

Your profile:

  • You have a teacher certification and/or experience working as a teacher (preferably in the IB Middle Years Programme or Diploma Programme specifically in Germany language).
  • Master’s Degree is desirable and a Bachelor’s Degree is the minimum.
  • You are passionate about your subject area and enthusiastic about working together with young people.
  • You are interested in working to shape the Nature Louisenlund Pedagogy for the 21st century.

The School Secretary will play a vital role in providing administrative support to the school administration, staff, students, and parents. Your challenge and responsibilities:

The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational and communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. The School Secretary will serve as the first point of contact for visitors and inquiries, manage office operations, and assist with various administrative tasks to ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the school’s administrative office.

Your Main Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors, parents, and students in a professional and welcoming manner, directing them to the appropriate personnel or resources as needed.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and relay messages to staff members in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Maintain the school’s main office, including managing incoming and outgoing mail, filing systems, and office supplies inventory.

    Assist with school reporting

  • Prepare and distribute communication materials, such as newsletters, bulletins, and announcements, to parents, staff, and students.
  • Assist with the organization and implementation of school activities, such as parent-teacher conferences, orientations, and special events.
  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff members to support the efficient operation of the school and address administrative needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and adhere to data protection regulations when handling student and personnel records.
  • Perform general clerical duties, including typing, photocopying, scanning, and filing documents as required.
  • Provide administrative support to school leadership and staff members, including assisting with special projects, research, and data entry tasks.
  • Uphold and promote the school’s mission, values, and policies in all interactions with stakeholders.

Your Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree business administration or equivalent qualification is required additional certification in office administration or secretarial studies is preferred with 5 years of practical work experience.

  • Proven experience in a similar administrative role, preferably in an educational setting.

  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and database management software.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse stakeholders.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.

  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Customer service-oriented mindset with a positive attitude and willingness to assist others.

  • Fluency in English and Kinyarwanda is required, additional language proficiency is an advantage.

  • Knowledge of basic accounting procedures and experience with financial record-keeping is desirable.

Your Challenge & Responsibilities 

The Technical Production Assistant is responsible for managing, operating, and maintaining all media and sound systems used across school events, assemblies, performances, and daily operations. This role ensures high-quality audio-visual production, supports event setups, and provides technical expertise to staff and students.

In addition to his/her responsibility for the aforementioned areas, the Technical Production Assistant Media and Sound Systems is specifically accountable for the following areas:

Key responsibilities

  1. Audio and Sound Management
  • Set up, operate, and troubleshoot microphones, speakers, soundboards, mixers and amplifiers.
  • Manage live sound mixing for school events, performances, and assemblies.
  • Ensure proper sound quality in all venues and maintain equipment in good working condition.
  • Regularly test, maintain, and calibrate sound systems.
  1. Visual and Media Production
  • Manage screens, Digital signage screens, Smartboard, and video display systems for events, performances, and assemblies.
  • Managing the lighting during events
  • Assist with digital media preparation
  1. Event Support
  • Provide technical setup and operation for assemblies, meetings, events and performances.
  • Coordinate with event organizers to assess technical needs and ensure smooth execution.
  • Assist in planning and testing AV setups before major events.
  1. Equipment Management
  • Keep an updated inventory of all media and sound equipment.
  • Ensure regular maintenance and timely repair of faulty systems.
  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve incidents to resume normal services. This will include the documentation of common fixes.
  • Advise on new equipment purchases and upgrades.
  1. Training and Support
  • Provide guidance to staff and students on proper use of AV and sound systems.
  • Develop simple manuals or checklists for routine use of media equipment.

Your profile:

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Audio Engineering, Media Production, ICT, or related field.
  • Proven experience in sound engineering, AV setup, or live production.
  • Strong technical knowledge of media and sound equipment.
  • Strong electronic troubleshooting skills.
  • Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
